Dennis called Thursday afternoon and let us know that real estate agent Schlobotnick, from the Around Here, Somewhere Realty Co. would be by, with clients, on Monday (today), between 11:00a and 1:00p; we should call if there were any conflicts. There were none; we did not.
We’re still waiting… Actually, we’re not waiting, but we still haven’t heard that they’re not going to be able to make it today.
Oh, well.

Yet Another Reason Micro$oft Ain’t “It”

“No matter how you slice it or dice it, there’s no way Microsoft comes out smelling like a rose on this one.
“As the company was handing out pink slips to some 1,400 employees last month, the accounting department apparently was using fingers and toes to calculate severance packages. It turns out that the company overpaid these former workers and, now that the error has been discovered, Microsoft wants its money back.
“The copy of the letter floating around the Internet has the names and dollar amounts blacked out so it’s hard to say if the payback amount is $10, $100, $1,000 or more. And we also don’t know if all 1,400 laid-off workers were affected. But, just for laughs, let’s do some very simple layman’s math:…”

I went to the SkyMall Web site to pick up a couple of things I’d spotted in the in-flight catalogues. I added my treasures to the shopping cart and, since they didn’t specify a shipping method, put the p.o. box in the shipping address section. Clicking the
Their telephone customer service is available 24/7 (a point in their favor), so I called, and the nice young man to whom I spoke informed me that the various “partners” shipped their own goods, some via UPS, some via FedEx, some via the post office. Well, then, why did the Web site reject my P.O. Box? P.O. Boxes are never accepted, says the nice young man. But, but, we don’t get mail delivered to our house. Well, then…
That’s three, straight off.
